As I have told countless times to people throughout my life, "my friend DeeDee and I have been friends since I was in 3rd grade." I can still picture the first time I ever saw her. As my family and I were driving to our brand new house in Pollock Pines, CA (for the first time), I saw DeeDee and her twin brother Timmy riding their bikes past my house and down the street we all grew up on. When we got out of the car, they quickly introduced their selves and I remember feeling so excited to have neighbors that were my age. Little did I know, that day was the start of a very important, lifelong friendship.
At first, I became best friends with Timmy and we were inseparable. We caused SO much trouble around our small neighborhood. So much trouble that eventually our families had to separate us (around 6th grade). After I wasn't allowed to hang out with Timmy anymore, we started to drift apart. Four years went by and we were now in high school. While I was getting off the bus in front of the school one day in February, DeeDee ran up to me in a panic and told me that Timmy had passed away that morning. I was completely shocked and in total disbelief. After school that day, I went straight to DeeDee's house to get the full story and try to face the terrifying news.
Timmy's tragic death somehow brought DeeDee and I closer. From that moment on, we slowly became inseparable and have developed one of the most important friendships of my life. DeeDee is not only my best friend, she is a part of my family.
And now the story continues. When I found out DeeDee was pregnant with her first child back in May of 2015, I knew instantly that this child would also be a huge part of my life. Not only did I realize that I had a very crucial role as "Uncle Gabe," I also knew I would be the baby's personal photographer. I was so thrilled to find out DeeDee was having a boy because I am an uncle to all girls and I really wanted the experience of having a nephew.
Witnessing DeeDee's pregnancy has been such an amazing experience for me. I was so involved in the everyday moments that I now know more about birthing than I probably should know. I was there through every trimester and also in the delivery room when little Mason arrived, one of the most unique and incredible experiences I have ever had. Mason is a little miracle baby sent down from above and delivered to us by Timmy's angel. In many ways, he looks SO much like Timmy.
Here are some photos I have taken of DeeDee's pregnancy, delivery and of course little Mason Timothy Parker himself. Congrats to DeeDee, Lloyd and Arion on your new addition!
